Campground News

2020

with the onset of Covid-19, the campground opened the 1st weekend in June 2020

Nick and Tammy prepared the sites for opening and advised campers of the new protocols needed to keep everyone safe to enjoy a great experience.

All sites were fully booked every weekend and during the week for the first time, most sites were booked. As a result, the Merrickville Campground enjoyed its most successful year.

We were able to purchase a much needed new lawn tractor and this was presented to manager Nick by our President Kel,PP Gerry, campground chair along with several members. Festooned with balloons Gerry drove the new tractor from our bandstand to the campground with members walking along behind.

The last camping weekend in October has traditionally been celebrated with Managers Nick and Tammy cooking the turkeys supplied by the lions and campers bringing side dishes. This year because of covid the Legion prepared and served a delicious dinner.

Campground Chair Gerry Seguin thanked the campers for their support of our campground, providing an insight into how our club uses the money raised for projects in our community and worldwide through Lions Int'l Foundation.

Nick and Tammy announced their retirement as managers and were presented with a certificate of appreciation and a cheque for their tireless dedication to looking after the many details of operating the campground.

Nick and Tammy will be missed and we are looking forward to working with the new manager's Tom and Caroline Siurna in 2021
