Lions at the 110th Rose Bowl

Lion Will Greeley, Midlland Lions Club most recent Lion member, wanted to share a very positive experience he had with his wife while attending the 110th Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.

As a Michigan alum, it was a dream come true to see the Wolverines play in the Rose Bowl against Alabama. My wife and I got game tickets, and looked forward to seeing the Rose Bowl parade as well. I contacted the Pasadena Lions Club and asked them if we could get a behind-the-scenes look at their float. They did us one better, asking if we would be willing to volunteer and help decorate the float.  We happily agreed, and spent four hours on Saturday decorating the Lions float and several others at nearby Irwindale, California. It was an awesome experience.

We helped trim and prepare hundreds of roses that ultimately got put on the floats.  We especially enjoyed the camaraderie with the other volunteers. Watching the finished floats during the parade was even better knowing that we helped decorate some of them.

Lion Will brought to our last meeting, January 16, 2 ‘pins’ from his Rose Bowl experience. One pin depicted the Pasadena Lions float and the other was a general Rose Bowl parade pin. Lion Will donated both pins for a raffle. Tail Twister Mike sold tickets and Lion Pete Conarty won the Pasadena Lions pin and Lion David Romenesko won the ‘Rose’ pin.
