Serving Midlothian & Beyond

The Midothian Lions Club have recently completed many service projects, including:

  • Assisted local residents with eyeglasses and eye exams
  • Collect, count and sort nearly 2,000 pair of used eyeglasses annually
  • Provides scholarships to graduating seniors at Midlothian High School & Midlothian Heritage High School annually
  • Built bunk beds to support the Texas Lions Camp & Sleep in Heavenly Peace
  • Contributed to emergecy relief kits for the Ellis County Homeless Coalition 
  • Picked up litter in local parks and community roadways
  • Provided food assistance to Section 8 Housing units in Midlothian
  • Participated in United Way's Day of Action
  • Held a food drive to support Manna House Food Pantry
  • Provide annual scholarships to local high school students
  • Provided tornando relief in the region
  • Sponsored campers to attend Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville Texas
  • Support of local non-profits in Ellis County
  • Diabetes awareness & wellness initiatives
  • Advocacy for local issues that create positive change

 

Vision Support

Lions are known throughout the world for their work to improve the lives of the visually impaired and to prevent avoidable blindness.  In keeping with the Lions Club International focus, the Midlothian Lions offer vision support in the following ways:

  • Purchased a SPOT Screening Device to be used for vision screenings in the community
  • Conducts vision screening for Midlothian ISD students and Midlothian Senior Center
  • The club pays for eye exams and eyeglasses for local children every year
  • Collects eyeglasses from the local community for recycling
  • Provided SPOT Vision Screenings to attendees of the Back to School Bash

The club also supports District 2-X1 projects:

  • Texas Lions Camp for children with physical disabilities, cancer, and Type 1 diabetic children
  • Leader Dogs for the Blind
  • World Services for the Blind
  • The Lions Sight and Tissue Foundation
  • Julien C. Hyer Lions Youth Camp
  • Sports Extravaganza for blind or visually impaired
  • Texas Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center 
  • Texas Lions Foundation
  • Lions Club International Foundation
