We have spent a lot of time and energy over the last couple of years constructng Lions Memorial Park. The park is situated in beautiful downtown Milford Station, Nova Scotia, on the former site of the Milford Elementary School. What became a weed infested empty lot, after the school was demolished, has been transformed into a tranquil, restful oasis in the centre of a bustling metropolis.

A gazebo has been constructed, along with two covered picnic areas, and benches are scattered throughout the park for those just wishing to rest their weary bones. The gazebo is equipped with electrical service which has already been utilized for a Christmas sing-along, a wedding and a recent concert. All facilities are completely accessible.

The newest addition, a fully accesible washroom facility, is in the final stages of construction and should be ready for use in the coming weeks.

Many new trees, bushes, shrubs and flowers have been planted and are thriving. One notable feature in the park is the array of solar panels on the roof of the largest picnic shelter. Our plan is that with the electricity generated by these panels, the park will eventually become energy neutral.

All of the plants and fixtures have been furnished through donations from local citizens and businesses, usually in memory of beloved family members who have passed away. Plaques have been installed in order to recognize these thoughtful donations.

Everyone is invited to drop by the park for a look-see. Bring your lunch, some friends, and enjoy the serenity.
