Meetings

Since 1952 the Milford Lions Club has been serving the Lions organization and our Community with pride. " On June 30, 1925, Helen Keller addressed the Lions Clubs International Convention in Cedar Point, Ohio, USA.  She challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in this crusade against darkness." We support our organization's commitment to be "Knights of the blind" by supporting a number of organizations dedicated to helping the blind.

  • We support the Eye Bank of Northeastern Pa.
  • We support the Leaderdog Program in Rochester Hill, Michigan who trains service dogs for the blind.
  • We support Beacon Lodge, a summer camp for blind children located right here in Pa.

We also support Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) in their efforts to bring relief and resources to areas around the world struck by natural disasters.

We support our community in many ways as well,

  • We assist people who need eye exams and may not have the resources to pay for the exam.
  • We started the Delaware Valley Leo Club. This is a youth run club. The kids elect their own officers, plan their own fundraisers, and donate the money they raise as they see fit. This program is designed to teach the youth leadership skills as well as the value of community service.
  • Our annual Tree Lighting project is one of the most popular community service projects. Our members string lights in the trees along the two major roads in our town, Route 6 and Route 209. We also put a tree at the community House in Milford which is also decorated with lights and we put lights on the star which is located on the "Knob" above Milford. This project is done in conjunction with the Milford Business Council's Festival of Lights and is a project that many people in our community enjoy.
  • We provide a complete Holiday Dinner for approximately 25 families who may not have the means to have a Dinner. We always add some small gifts for the children of these families as well.
  • We provide 4 scholarships to graduates of Delaware Valley High School.
  • We put the American Flags out along the streets in Milford on Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day. We do this with pride as we pay respect to those who served their Country and did not come home, the day our great country was founded, and to honor those whose hard work has made this country what it is. We also put the flags out on special occasions at the request of the local veterans groups. If anyone would like the flags put out please contact us.
  • We put the lights on the Cross on the "Knob" at Easter. This has been a tradition in Milford before the Lions Club was chartered and we will continue to do this project with Pride.

We are very proud of our communities past and we will continue to work on shaping it's future. The motto of Lions is "We Serve" and that is what we do. If you are interested in being a part of our Club please contact us for information on becoming a member.
