Meeting no. 2 - October 4, 2011 Christmas Committee
In attendance: Dave and Linda Sheller from the Elks. Tom Hammond, Al Scott, Dennis Tichenor and Kristin Kinnie from the Wichita Center. Joe Krumm called in as he got stuck at another meeting.
1. Tom found a 6,000 square foot building where we were last year. Big enough? We will look at it and keep looking elsewhere.
2. Dave has a line on 1500 boxes for our food.
3. Correction in Minutes: The real date for forms going out to families is November 1st not October 1st as earlier stated in the minutes of the last meeting.
4. Dave will check on the fork truck and Lowes for baskets.
5. Clackamas High School's Rage program will be dispensing things on December 10th. We will get any food left over.
6. Linda reported that we have enough toys for only one per child. This was discussed at length. We all agreed that food was much more important to promote.
7. Dennis will develop a flyer that will go near any barrels we may have placed describing the magnitude of our project and that all food stays in North Clackamas School District.
8. Dennis and Al will contact Bob's Red Mill to add products to our boxes at Christmas
9. Al will contact Dave's Killer Bread for our bread products for our Christmas boxes.
10. It was agree that when Julie gets home to have her email all former drivers to start getting names for the delivery day on December 17th.
11. Tom will get us a U-Haul.
12. Tom and Kristin will contact Clackamas High School to get their family names so there are no duplicates.
13. Al will contact Grocery Outlet to see if we can put in barrels for food.
14. Doc is on vacation for three weeks, but when he gets back we want him to contact Botsfords for perishable food like potatoes, etc.
15. Linda and Dave will get an inventory of Turkey's and Chickens to see if we will be short.
16. At the next meeting we will determine if we get Joe Krumm to push that famous button to get us support wherever we feel we might be weak.
17. If we have food left over the first groups to come in to get leftovers will be the Buddy Back Pack program and the Wichita Center. We also, in the past, have supported. the Oak Grove Food Bank, Clackamas Service Center, the homeless program at Father's Heart and a group downtown Milwaukie who last year did 25 families. (We supplied the food for that 25 and they got their names from the County.)
18. Tom will be putting in the names again this year.
19. At the meeting tonight I will bring a signup sheet for our members to start getting ready to participate.
20. Julie has sent out letters to all schools and at the time she was going to N.J. she was getting good response. We picked up the new Charter Cascade School that moved in to the Old Clackamas Elementary. They will be collecting food and giving us some names of families.
21. We will be making sure every family gets peanut butter again this year. We had plenty last year after we purchased some.
22. Next meeting October 18th, 10:00 am at the Elks in Milwaukie. Everyone is welcome.
