The Monticello Lions Club was organized on October 1, 1948. The club is part of Lions International is the world's largest service organization with approximately 1.3 million members in 200 countries and geographical areas. The primary aim of Lionism is service, first to the club's community, then to those in need wherever they may be. The Lions motto is "We Serve."

Lions are an international network of 1.3 million men and women in 205 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world.
