Under the leadership of President - Lion Bimalnath, Secretary - Lion. Jonhy AO & Treasurer - Lion. Seby Thomas the following main projects were conducted:

Protecting our Environment campaign

We planted 27 saplings at Sree Sarada School, Kalady as part of our commitment to nature campaign. This was done after an inaugural function during the school assembly, attended by our members along with our RD Programs Ln. Adv. Ajikumar, ZC Ln. Roshan John, School Principal Mrs. Vasantha Vinodkutty, PTA president, Mr. Krishnakumar etc.

This was covered by the local TV channel and news were there with photographs in leading newspapers like The Hindu, Malayala Maronama & Matrubhumi.

Independence Day celebration

We celebrated our 69th Independence Day at Marian Hospice & Research centre, Kariyad, a Palliative care centre for old abandoned women.

After the Independence Day celebration at Marian Hospice & Research Center, Kariyad, we handed our last month's hunger box collection by cheque to Mother Superior, Sr. Marine for providing lunch for the inmates. Also, handed over food items to the inmates and towels, washing powder, soaps & buckets to take care of their regular requirements. There are 25 inmates and more than 25 old sisters staying there.
 

Mega Medical Camp

The total beneficiaries of the three days camp put together is 2,215 nos. Details follow:

  1. District Governor, Ln. Adv. Amarnath PMJF inaugurated our Free Mega Medical Camp at a village called Pothiyakkara in association with Sree Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences, Chalakka with 6 specializations - General medicine, Orthopedics, ENT, Eye, Dermatology, Gynecology & Pulmonology. Total 1350 people were registered consulted doctors and medicines were dispensed.
  2. In addition to this, 62 women were screened free for Early Cancer detection tests.
  3. There was two Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training organized as part of the event - one for the volunteers and our District Chairperson Ln. Jacob Thaliyath & Ln. Vijayaraj trained 6 volunteers. Along with these 6 trainers, the team gave seminar and hand on training on mannequin to general public during the camp. This was greatly acknowledged by people as it could save a person's life anytime.
  4. There was also an organ donation awareness seminar conducted by Dr. Dinesh of Amrita Hospital during the camp.
  5. Conducted a general vision camp with free cataract detection and surgery as part of our Mega Medical Camp conducted at St.Joseph's Church's Parish Hall, Pothiyakkara. 364 people were screened by our associates, Dr. Tony's eye Hospital, Aluva. Out of this 49 people were recommended for further check up in the hospital and as on today 15 people have completed free cataract surgery.
  6. Conducted a blood donation camp along with our Mega Medical camp at Pothiyakkara collecting 23 units.
  7. Early detection of life style diseases camp for 300 people.

All these were well highlighted in the society with information sign boards in major junctions like Airport Junction Athani, NH on the way to Aluva, Kalady Bus stand, MC Road – Airport Jn. Angamaly Kalady Road etc, Newspaper information about the camp and finally the report after the camp in newspaper and local TV channels. This project has given maximum PR value of Lions Clubs in recent times in and around Angamaly & Aluva.

Eearly detection of Life Style Diseases Camp

We conducted 6 camps for the early detection of life style diseases which befenitted around 900 people this year.

Vision Screening Camps

We conducted 8 vision screening camps as part of SFK program along with our neighboring clubs this year.

Hunger Relief

We served mid day meals for around 600 people this year

Road Safety

We installed a convex mirror with Lions emblem infront of SreeSarada School, Kalady.
