Club Projects

The Newcastle Community Lions Club works to be involved the community throughout the year through glasses donation programs, providing eye glasses and exams for those in need, and various other services within the community. The Newcastle Community Lions Club is a new club in Newcastle, having been charter in November of 2014.

Some of our 2015 projects included organizing and registering a Great American Trash Clean Up event for the Newcastle Community in which Lions Club members and volunteers picked up trash throughout the city of Newcastle. Additionally, the Lions club organized a food drive, donating the food to local food pantries; painted the bathroom and pavillion at Lions Club Park in Newcastle; participating in the Fill the Bus community school supply drive; and partcipating in the Freedom Day celebration among other things. We donated glasses to local children and collected over 740 pairs of glasses to be recycled and used for those in need.

2016 promises to be even better year. While we will continue our participation in community events such as the Fill the Bus and Freedom Day celebration, as well as spearheading the Great American Clean Up/Trash-Off efforts in Newcastle and continued revamping of Lions Club Park, the Lions are looking to do more. This year we will be partnering with Oklahoma Beautiful Miss to create an annual scholarship pageant in Newcastle, create semi-annual community pancake breakfast event, and so much more!

We have learned that while we may be small in numbers, we can impact our community in a large way. If you would like to be a part of any of our projects, please come to a meeting or contact us to learn more about volunteering. You do not have to join the Lions to participate as a volunteer at any of our events!
