JILKS, Gordon Fredrick – at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on
Saturday, July 2, 2011, in his 78th year. Gord, beloved husband of the
late Colleen (nee Moberly). Dear father of Norman Willman of Oshawa
and Ronald Willman and his wife Christine of St. Thomas.
Poppa to Krista-Lee, Matthew, Christopher and Nicholas. Father of
Glenna Weller, Neil Jilks, and Gordon “Andy” Jilks. Brother-in-law
of Isobel of Scotland and the late June Seely. Missed by many nieces
and nephews, friends at St. George’s Anglican Church and the Newcastle
Lions Club, and his special four-legged companion Becky.

RICKARD, Roy Brenton “R.B.” – (Councillor, Village of Newcastle, for 12 years; Veteran of WW11; former owner of Newcastle Plumbing & Heating; member of Newcastle Lions for 61 years and past District Governor of A3 1961 and 1962; member of Newcastle Village and District Historical Society and Newcastle Horticultural Society; former BIA and Chamber of Commerce member and Hall Board Chairman; life-time member of Newcastle United Church) passed away peacefully at his home in Newcastle on Wednesday, January 6, 2010, in his 90th year. Dear husband for 64 years of Jean (nee Bonathan). Sadly missed by children George (Lana) of Newcastle, Beverly Elaschuk (Kenneth) of Port Carling, Janice Mills (David) of St. Albert, Alberta, Douglas (Robin), and Robin (Wendy) of Newcastle. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters and their spouses, Stanley (Muriel), Marion Farr (survived by Fred), Garnet (Annabelle), and Helen Buxton (Ted). Grandpa to Elan (Don) Boyd and Michael (Tania) Rickard, Darrin and Daniel Elaschuk, Jeffrey and Laura Mills, Keegan, Joel and Brynn Rickard, Rudy and Whitney Rickard, and great-grandchildren Ryan and Matthew Boyd and Quinn Rickard. POWELL, Stanley Eric Thomas (Stan) - (Former President and Life Member of the Newcastle Lions’ Club since 1968; member of Newcastle United Church; former employee of J. Anderson Smith & Co., the C.P.R., and a custodian from 1952 to 1987 at Newcastle United Church, Newcastle Community Hall, Clarke High School, and O.P.P. Station.) – after a brief illness, surrounded by his family at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Saturday, September 19, 2009, in his 81st year. Stan, beloved husband for 61 years of Kathleen “Kay” (nee Toms). Loving father of Elizabeth and her husband Wayne Markle of Scarborough, Judy Powell and her partner Lynn Piggott of Oshawa, Dale and her husband Wayne Hunt of Pontypool, and the late Harold.
JOSE, Francis, husband and soul-mate of Erla (Chapman) for 51 years. Father of Faye, Gordon (Kimberly) and Murray (Mark). Grandfather of Cassandra and Deigan. Brother of Donald (Marion) and Doug (Doreen), and brother-in-law of Clair Chapman (Penny). A graduate of Kemptville Agricultural College, Francis was a Master Breeder with the Holstein Association of Canada, first Chairman of the Durham County Milk Committee, 50-year volunteer with the Durham Agricultural Society, 4-H Leader, and a director of the Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame. A lifetime and involved member of Newcastle United Church and active member of Oshawa Presbytery. Founding director and recognized member of Camp Quin-Mo-Lac. Long-time member of the Newcastle Lions Club, Newcastle Historical Society, the Toronto Cornish Association, and a director on the Parkview Seniors’ Residence Board. Francis supported his community for his entire life, and many were enriched by his quiet leadership.
BLAKER Pat, loving husband for 65 years of the late Elizabeth (Betty) Blaker. Devoted father of Judith Elizabeth Bateman and her husband Ken Mitchell of Spruce Grove, Alberta; David Patrick Blaker and his wife Lenora of Ottawa; Catherine Louise Blaker of Spruce Grove, Alberta; Timothy William Blaker and his wife Sandra of London, and Gordon Douglas Blaker and his wife Muriel of Newcastle. Sadly missed by eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. RT.D. after 18 years in the Service; 39-year member of the Newcastle Lions Club; past District Deputy Governor, of District A-3; retired 17-year teacher for the Newcastle Northumberland School Board.
