Since the club’s chartering in January 1998 by the New Fairfield Lions Club, its members have worked on a variety of projects in the local community. In addition to assisting the New Fairfield Lions Club with it’s projects, the Leos Club has participated in several Habitat for Humanity projects, have done fall yard cleanup for local senior citizens in need, and assist the school PTO’s with events such as the Harvest Fair and school book fairs.
The New Fairfield Leo Club has over 30 members, and is open to students in grades 9 – 12. They meet twice per month at 2pm at the High School. Lion Gail Redenz is the current Leo club advisor. Students who would like more information or to get involved with the New Fairfield Leo Club can contact Candice Myruski at candy8900@earthlink.net. In addition, the Leos have their own website: http://www.freewebs.com/nfleosclub/
There are more than 5,500 Leo clubs in 138 countries. While helping others in their community, Leos develop leadership skills and experience teamwork in action. For more information about the Leo Club Program, visit the Youth Programs section of the Lions Web site at www.lionsclubs.org.
