Our next meeting will be Monday, February 13, at Marly's Restaurant with dinner at 6:30 p.m.  Please email or call me with cancellations.  Lion Randy will be presenting the kick-off for the rose sale starting now and ending with delivery in April.  The paper has already had an article in it announcing the upcoming sale.

Our last meeting was attended by 13 members and 2 guests.  Laurie Shaw from the New London Chamber filled us in on the latest progress as the Chamber makes its move to the old Kwik Trip building on N. Shawano.  She addressed the advantages of the site, the opportunity to have an open 24 hour Visitor Center, and the addition of a concession stand for New London Youth Baseball.  This will offer additional parking for baseball and give much more visibility for the Chamber.  Construction should begin within a few weeks.

The following business was conducted:

  • Motion by Steinhorst, second by Dyreson, to refer the request for funding for the Old Glory Honor Flight to the Projects Committee.  Motion Carried.
  • Motion by Henke, second by Cleveland, to donate $500 to the New London Public Library for the purchase of large print books.  Motion Carried.
  • Motion by Steinhorst, second by Schumde, to donate $500 to the Wisconsin Lions Foundation in memory of Alice Sheahan, wife of PDG Lou.  Motion carried.
  • Lions will be sponsoring the Kids from Wisconsin on Wednesday, July 18.  Lion Jim reported that Lexi Zaddock will be assisting with the promotion through the school DECCA Club.
  • Information on the St. Patrick's Day parade was forwarded to Lion Monte.

Lionettes:  Meeting will be held on Tuesday evening, February 14, at Marly's Restaurant with dinner at 6 p.m.  Two representatives of the Valley VNA Senior Services office will be speaking about the services they offer, locations, availability, and answer any questions.  Please notify Dorothy Neilson at 982-4252 if you have guests or cannot attend.

The positive side of life:  Living on earth is expensive, but it does include a free trip around the sun every year.

Happy Valentine's Day!
