scheduled events and projects
Vision:
a. We purchase eyeglasses and provide vision exams for approximately 6 people every year. Those are done as needed; club annual budget is $600.
b. Vision screening for 3 preschools in Paola. This will be done Sept 11-15 this year. We will screen approximately 50 children ages 3-5.
c. Collect eyeglasses throughout the year to send in to be reused.
Environment:
a. A second trash pickup will be scheduled in late spring 2018 on our two miles of Highway 68.
b. Shelter House 2 and boat at Lions Park, Lake Miola will be painted in fall 2017. Date is not yet selected.
c. Courthouse gardens co-sponsor along with the Master Gardeners. Club members sell bricks for contributions to the Courthouse Gardens. A recent upgrade to the Courthouse necessitated moving and resetting the bricks.
Youth:
a. Typically we pass out Cracker Jacks at the Halloween parade, on or about Oct 31.
b. We will sponsor at least one and possibly two young men at Boys State, Spring 2018.
c. We will sponsor a student at Lions Band, Spring 2018
d. We will contribute toward the Night at the Museum at Cottonwood Elementary School, spring 2018.
e. We will provide 2 $500 college scholarships for graduating seniors, spring 2018.
f. We will contribute money to the Cops for Tots program at Christmas.
Hunger:
a. We sponsor the Paola Farmer's Market, May-September
