             LIONS OF VIRGINIA FOUNDATION CONFERENCE

After a 3 hour drive, Lion Pat Brown and I arrived at The Sheraton Premiere in Tyson's Corner, Vienna, VA. After checking-in and picking up our packet, our week started. Two days of go go go. Plenty of classes, a chance to meet and greet, and exhibits galore.

The exhibits varied from Leadrer Dogs, Canine Companions, Diabetes, Hearing Problems, and Pin Traders. This is also where we turned in the LOVF Tickets. Those tickets joined many others from Districts A, B, C, D, E, and F in a large barrel. We visited several tables set up by clubs to sell items or to sell chances on a prize. (Lion Mary Parker was called and tld she had won something Saturday).

We attended the opening General Session where Dr. Jitsuhiro Yamada, International 2nd Vice President. We also had reports from LOVF foundations and Eye Glass recycling center reports.

We did not attend the dinner but after a good nights sleep we were off again. We attended several classes: Presidents training, Canine Companions, membership, etc. We also attended the Memorial Service and received a white carnation for John Stokes.

Our final event was the LOVF Luncheon. We shared a table with Lion's from our area: The Gregories, Lion Pam Kidwell, and others. The lunch was good and the speaker, John Schwartz (Fire Chief) was awesome. He explained that he was a member of the Arlington FD but that services like that are shared in Northern VA. He also pointed out that Lionscould become vital members of their community through Certs Training.
