Club Projects

LCIF focuses on efforts to restore eye sight, provide disaster relief, support youth and address other community humanitarian needs.

Pine Bush Lions Club Goals:

PBLC strives to meet as many of the international goals with concentration on our own communities’ needs.  Here is how we do it:

Vision

  • Lions S.E.E. Program www.lionsseeny.org - screening pre-K and K kids in our schools and local day care centers
    • PBE, EJR, Packanasink & Circleville; Over the Moon, Metropolis & Chapel Field Christian
    • Certified screeners: Steve Decker, Lynn Inglima, Bill and Sue Wiand

Youth

Hunger           

  • New Prospect Reformed Church “The Abundant Life Food Pantry” – visit them on Facebook
  • PBCSD ‘in-house’ pantries
  • Holiday Food Distribution Thanksgiving & Christmas w/PBCSD, local churches, organizations, businesses and individuals

Environment

  • Partner w/Town of Shawangunk Walker Valley Community Enhancement Committee annual
  • Earth Day Roadside Litter Pick-up
  • Adopt-A-Highway Roadside Litter Pick-up
  • Recycling 5¢ cans/bottles to help protect our environment

Diabetes & Health

  • Members attend public offered classes and information sessions on how to help our community with this ever-growing health concern.  We post regularly to our Facebook page suggestions on how to manage the disease and refer people to local resources available to them.  More educational & testing programs are planned for the near future in this area.

Literacy

Disaster Preparedness and Relief

  • Members have attended educational & training sessions to help us provide guidance in times of trouble.  Topics so far are Narcan Training and Disaster Preparedness Training [natural, man-made & active shooter situations]

Other Community Activities

  • Pine Bush Tree Lighting Ceremony.  Supports several areas within the community such as the Sgt. Meier Memorial Scholarship Fund & Crawford’s Toys for Tots.

Fundraising

  • Letter Campaign in March – community generously contributes to us so we may provide support back to the community through our projects.

  • Harvest Festival in September – this event provides the bulk of the funds we need to provide the Holiday Food Distribution items we give every year to the Pine Bush Central School District’s food give away. This program provides to those in the community who need a little help/cheer during the holidays [eligibility requirements apply].
