EYE SEE
The Lions’ motto: We Serve is alive and well in the Plymouth Lions club. This is no more evident than in our efforts to provide aide to those with vision difficulties.
As of June 2009, we are proud to have 18 reading machines available to members of our community. Reading machines enlarge printed material making items easier to read .
We continue to collect eyeglasses for those who desperately need them in other countries. This starts by placing 12-13 glasses collection buckets in businesses located throughout the community. Donated glasses are delivered to the State Lions Convention, are processed and are taken to countries in need.
One of our officer positions is the Eye Bank chairman whose role is to represent the Plymouth Lions at the county level. In the near future, our Club will be asked to transport tissue between Fond du Lac and Sheboygan. Eye tissue ends up at the Eye Bank of Wisconsin located in Madison, where it is processed and matched to patients needing it.
Lastly, from time to time members of the Plymouth Lions learn of an individual (child or adult) who is in need of vision correction but does not have the financial means to pay for it. Once again we are there to serve. Members of the Plymouth Lions club can help by steering these individuals to the Executive Board.
We are proud to be members of the Plymouth Lions Club and the work we do to serve others with vision impairments. Boy! . . . do we feel GREAT!!
