EYE SEE - Community Projects
This EYE SEE focuses on the “Community Partnership” our Lions Club has with Plymouth and the surrounding area.
Partnership – a relationship resembling a legal partnership and usually involving close cooperation between parties having specified and joint rights and responsibilities (Merriam-Webster). The “Parties” in our partnership are the Plymouth Lions Club and those we support.
The Plymouth Lions Club is focused on providing financial support to those in need. We provide this financial support to 50 different international, national, state, county, and local groups or individuals seeking our financial support. From Lions Club International to hurricane-ravaged Joplin, Missouri – from the Lions Eye Bank in Madison to Project Angel Hugs – from the Plymouth Food Pantry to a trip for a child going blind to see the Statue of Liberty. We also support the Blood Center of Wisconsin, 29 reading machines and one video machine, vision testing equipment and vision testing (2016 = six schools and over 800 children tested), provide glasses to an average of three children per year, the PHS Academic Awards Banquet, and four $1000 scholarships.
This year we will continue to support these worthy causes along with supporting the “Dare to Dream” park project.
WE SUPPORT our PARTNERS!!
We cannot provide financial support to these efforts without our fund raising initiatives. Our tried-and-true fundraisers include the corn and cheese stands at the Fair, tailgate party, fish boil, and Nemac parking. They have served us well. New this year is the “calendar raffle”. This project was added in an attempt to raise money without adding service hours. Projects like these are vital for our club to continue being a respected contributing partner to Plymouth.
Partners share their identity with each other so they can support each other. Those requesting our support communicate who they are and why our support is needed. They know our club is dedicated – we volunteer, we are responsible, we are compassionate, we are strong… We are LIONS! There are many in our community who do not know who we are which is why we participate in events like the Memorial Day Parade, Mill Street Festival, and work days at Lions Park. We will strengthen the visibility of who we are with more articles in the Lions newsletters, our local papers, and an updated website.
Boy, do WE feel great as an energized Community Partner!
