LICOLA VILLAGE PLAQUES HONOR LATE MEMBERS
Plaques honouring three late valued members of the Portarlington/Drysdale Lions Club Inc – Adrian Mannix OAM, Barry Miller and Syd Payne – were officialyy unveiled on 3 July 2011 in the Arbour at the Licola Lions Village. The Arbour contains approximately 50 plaques recognising the loyalty and service of Lions and Lady Lions from around the State.
PORTARLINGTON MUSSEL FESTIVAL
Our Club sausage sizzle at the annual Portarlington Celtic Music Fesival in June raised more than $3,000 to go to local community organisations. The three-day festival is that largest in Australia featuring Celtic music and attracts performers and audiences from around the world.
AIR SHOW & CRAYFISH SPINS

The Club received a cheque for $2,895 for our work at the 2011 International Air Show at Avalon AIrport. The organisers thanked all Lions who helped out at what was regarded as the best show yet.Our famous Crayfish Spins early in the year notched up a profit of $8,825.40 resulting from 198 spins. Thanks to all Members who assisted so willingly, with a special mention to President Garry for his smooth organisation and accounting expertise.
RESCUE SERVICE WE CAN BE PROUD OF
Those who attended the May dinner meeting enjoyed an interesting presentation by three members of the Bellarine State Emergency Service Unit followed by an inspection of the Unit’s major rescue truck. Rachel Vella, Deputy Controller Training, led the presentation with support from Graeme Phipps, Deputy Controller Operations, and Paul Finn, Equipment Officer. Bellarine unit has about 30 members, and was established in 1977.As a result of the presentation, The Club dicided to donate the proceeds of this year's Charity Golf Day (September 25) to the SES.
TRASH & TREASURE GARAGE SALE
Our Giant Trash and Treasure Garage Sale held on Sunday 17 April raised around $2,300 for community projects. Convener Robert Wilson-Browne rated the effort as a great success and thanked all those Lions and Lady Lions who assisted. A few items of potential worth are listed for sale on E-Bay, including a set of historic aviation books.
A Lions Club barbecue at the Drysdale Valiant/Chrysler Show and Shine Day raised $185 in about three and half hours.
