COMMUNITY

The community team receive information about and seek out people and organisations in our local community who are in need whether that be man-power, financial assistance or moral support. Over the years the club has assisted many organisations and individuals.

We have partnered with Waitrose Portishead to provide food parcels for local families in need at Christmas.

We provided free First Aid Courses to the Public

We made a donation of £400 to the Portishead Diabetes Suport Group

FUNDRAISING

The fundraising team plan and organise events to raise funds to allow us to be able to serve the local community. We offer our services free of charge and to be able to do this requires a steady income.

VERY PENNY RAISED FOR CHARITY GOES TO CHARITY

Club members pay a yearly subscription which covers our administration costs.

We raise money by collecting locally and running events such as:

  • Collections at local Supermarkets
  • Horse Racing Evenings
  • Hoop La Stalls at Fairs
  • Raffling Chocolate Easter Eggs and Santas
  • Selling Books/Jigsaws/CDs/DVDs at our market stall

Collecting in December with our Santa Float

SOCIAL

Our club has a very active social diary and this is central to us making sure we have fun while serving the local community. These social events also help members get to know each other better so we are friends, not just colleagues.

Recent social events:

  • Matthew Boat Trip on the River Avon
  • Weekends away to Scarborough & Lincoln
  • Skittles Evenings
  • Day trips to places of interest

Croquet & Cream Tea afternoon - Summer 2012

YOUTH

We work extensively with local Youth groups and Schools to encourage the younger members of our community to have a sense of purpose and achievement. We have a dedicated Youth Officer Keith Fuell who is very enthusiastic about working with and promoting all that our youth of today have to offer.
