Adding A Celebratory Moment In People's Lives

Lions Club Raigarh City has always taken the forefront to bring a change in poor lives with small yet remarkable initiatives. In the same line, there’s a very special festive programme that we have been doing as a ritual for the last 15 years. More than 1,00,000 devotees travel to the Town of Raigarh city to witness the festive fair on the occasion of JANMASHTHAMI, a hindu festival. These devotees are not deterred by the weather or inconvenient services for travelling from their rural interiors to the town. Most of these people who come are poor and struggle hard to manage a single meal. Saluting their spirit and dedication, Lions Club Raigarh city has been following a ‘Relieving the Hunger’ programme wherein we distribute free meals to approximate 10,000 devotees every year On the day of the festival we organize a festive feat for the poor and needy with a full course charity meal for them. Over these years our efforts have been appreciated and applauded by the local administration as well the public.

The funding for the same is done by contributions from club members, all of whom never hesitate to donate a good portion. The whole activity requires an involvement of 40-45 people for organization and management. But the helping hands are always eager! Our club members chalk out some precious time and come forward to ensure that the programme is successful and worthy. With our spirit, we have also fostered similar ideas in other groups of the city who are taking similar ventures to help poor people.

Our vision is to add moments of happiness and create happy stories in everyone’s lives. The attempt has been successful so far and we are enthusiastic to take it further with a higher vigor.

Kudos to Lions Club Raigarh City!
