A Huge Variety of Projects since 1963

Remuera Lions Club has carried out a huge variety of projects since formation in 1963.

Projects include the Remuera Lions Remuera Lions Speechmakers Competition which we have run in our local schools since 1989. The finalists from local school competitions compete for prizes and trophies.

Since 1965 years we have also run the Remuera Lions Citizenship Awards for local schools, for which each school is invited to select outstanding students who exemplify the ideals of Good Citizenship as set out in the "Junior Citizenship Code" which each school has on display.

Since 1988 we have run the Remuera Lions "World Festival of Magic - the "Magic Show" The Magic Show is aimed at supporting our youth. Each year some 12,000 children, their families and disabled folk, (many from less fortunate circumstances), get to see this Magic Show for free. In addition, excess funds raised purchase something for the greater good of Auckland. This project alone has raised and donated back to the community approx $3.3 million since 1988.

Every year in late September/early October we arrange a Citrus Collection by reaching out to the community for any excess Oranges, Lemons, Limes, Grapefruit and Mandarins.  Our members head out with ladders and boxes and collect the Citrus Fruit, before packaging it up and sending it to the South Island to be distrubited for families in need.  If you  want to support this cause next year, please email  remueralions@gmail.com with your details

Through out the year we spend a weekend supporting Blind and Low Vision people to meet together over food and get some social interaction

Heads Up for Kids is a unique collection which asks New Zealanders to dig out and donate old decimal and pre-decimal New Zealand currency, and all foreign money.  The obsolete cash is then redeemed for New Zealand dollars and used to fund education programmes for young New Zealanders who would otherwise not get the opportunity.  You can donate any coins at your local Resene's and we'll collect it to send off to Heads for Kids.

And of course, we sell the Lions Christmas Cakes every year!
Back in 1971, New Zealand Lions Christmas Cake was born.  Now, more than half a century later, our Cake has become an annual nation-wide favourite. Moist, fruity, delicious. Enjoy it now, at Christmas, next year or the next. Our cake has a shelf life of no less than two years. Did we say it tastes delicious? Of course!  You can order your cake by contacting John on 021 024 03482

We also support the Lions International Eye Health programme - Sight First. LCIF's SightFirst program has given the gift of sight to millions. SightFirst has prevented blindness and restored vision for people worldwide through cataract surgeries, the building of eye hospitals, training of medical personnel, delivery of medication and raising awareness of eye health.

We are always looking for new projects to help the Community, if you have anything you think we can get involved with please reach out: remueralions@gmail.com
