Scholarship Guidelines

 

 

  1. Applicants may be either:

a) any graduating senior from Madison Central, Madison Southern, and EKU Model Laboratory  high schools, with special consideration given to applicants who are significantly sight impaired;

or

b) any current Madison County college student, undergraduate or graduate, who is sight impaired or who has an interest in working with special education for sight-impaired students.

 

  1. Individual awards each year will depend upon funds available and the number of eligible applicants.
     
  2. All applicants will complete the application form and provide required attachments, including an official transcript, a two-page “snapshot of your life” essay and three  (3) letters of reference. The application form can be obtained from Madison County high school guidance counselors, the Richmond Lions Club web-site (http://e-clubhouse.org/sites/richmondky/), or the Richmond Lions Club mailing address: P.O. Box 931, Richmond KY 40476. The completed application including all attachments must be mailed to the Richmond Lions Club mailing address: P. O. Box 931, Richmond, KY 40476.

 

  1. The scholarship committee may consider applications from former recipients for continuing awards.  Any current college student who wishes to re-apply must submit an official copy of an up-to-date transcript, an updated essay, and three (3) new letters of reference. 

 

  1. Awards will be based on a combination of factors including academic achievement, extracurricular and community activities, and potential for success in higher education.

 

  1. The winner of the scholarship must provide the Scholarship Committee with his/her College Student ID # and the College office/address to which the scholarship check should be forwarded. This should be done as soon as possible after the award is accepted.

 

  1. In all matters, the Scholarship Committee shall have final discretion in the interpretation of guidelines and in the awarding of scholarships.
