Bunny and Bryan Wilks bought “Elvis” to the April 24, 2017 club meeting to talk about their roles as puppy raisers for the Cassville, New York based non-profit organization Freedom Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Elvis is a 7-month old Black Labrador puppy in training to become a guide dog. This phase of his training will last approximately 14 – 16 months. Note the Lions Club International badge on his jacket. Lions are supporters of Freedom Guide Dogs.

On April 10, 2017, retired City of Richmond Police Officer Glenwood W. Burley spoke to the club about his successful effort to relocate the Richmond Police Memorial from Nina Abady Festival Park to William Byrd Park.

Mark Carter, Tech For Troops Project, spoke to club members about his organization on March 27, 2017. It empowers veterans with skills, computers and information technology work force training.

On Monday, March 13, 217, Ms. Jennifer Purser, Administrative Director, Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA), Mid-Atlantic Chapter, spoke to the club about the services it provides to our military veterans.

Frances Ellwood, Caremark Healthcare, gave a presentation on diabetes to club members on February 27, 2017.

Lloyd Dunnavant, Virginia Council of Boy Scouts volunteer, brought club members up to date on recent policy changes to Boy Scouts of America during the club’s regular meeting on February 13, 2017.

Lia Walton of the Adoptee and Foster Student Association spoke to the club on January 23, 2017 about the association’s mission to bring together adoptees and people who are interested in adoption.
