Lions club of Rourkela observed its 59th Charternite function

 The Charternite ceremony of Lions club of Rourkela was held on the 25th November 2018 evening at Indo German Club, Sec-2, Rourkela.  Lion Durga Prasad Sharma, District Governor Dist 322c2 was the Chief Guest and Past District Governor Lion G Vasudevan Nair was the Guest of honour.  

          The function was started with invocation, silence prayer for world peace and departed souls, lighting up of the ceremonial lamp by all the guests and with Invocation dance by Leo Shreya and Sanchita. Lion President Bharti Chandan welcomed the audience and guests and it followed by address of Charternite Chairperson Lion Deepak Chandan.  Lion J S Chhabra introduced the lion members of the neighbouring clubs. Secretary Lion Dr Jyoti Swain and Leo Niharika Dalbehera read out the secretarial reports. Zone Chairperson Lion S K Pradhan, Region Chairperson Lion Sunita Sreenivasan, Guest of honour Lion G Vasudevan Nair and Chief Guest Lion Sharma addressed the audience. During the function, two new members were inducted to the club which will help the club to enhance the service activities.  

          During this occasion Lions club of Rourkela felicitated a teacher, a nurse, a postman and a police man for their dedication to the society. Also prizes were awarded to the winner of peace poster contest and essay competitions held earlier. To mark the occasion club’s annual souvenir “Lions Roar”, edited by Lion R C Malhotra was released by the District Governor. At the end, visiting lion members felicitated the club for the charter nite celebration.  At the end, Lion Swain proposed a formal vote of thanks. Lion Soni Chandan coordinated the programme and programme ended with the National Anthem.

          Earlier in the morning District Governor visited our adopted school at Savoniya Sikshyashrama at Lathikata, Leo club at NIT Rourkela and drinking water project at Koelnagar. President Lion Bharti Chandan, Charter nite Chairperson Lion Deepak Chandan, Chairman Savoniya Sikshyashrama Lion Bhimasen Pradhan, Co-Chairman Lion Jagjit Singh, Leo advisor Lion A K Jena, Lion Dr Pooja Pati, Lion P Sreenivasan, RC Lion Sunita Sreenivasan and Lion C S Chandan accompanied the visiting District Governor to the projects. The scholarship amount for five students of Savoniya Sikshyashrama, Lathikata was also distributed.

Lions club of Rourkela was awarded during district cabinet Installation

The 28th cabinet installation of Lions International district 322C2 was held on the 5th August 2018 at Andhra Kalyan Mandap, Attabira near Sambalpur. Past International Director Arbinder Pal Singh installed the cabinet for the year lionstic year 2018-19. Approximately 450 lions members of the district (Comprising of 10 revenue district of Western Odisha) including nine Past District Governors and Past Multiple Council Chair Persons witnessed the programme. District Governor Durga Prasad Sharma, who was installed at Las Vegas (US) last month during international convention, was handed over a symbolic gavel by the outgoing District Governor Brijmohan Agarwal. During the function, Multiple Council chair person S P Banerjee was also present as guest of honour. Out going District Governor Brijmohan Agarwal organised an award distribution ceremony for the activities done during the previous year, during the second session held in the after noon. Lions Club of Rourkela the first and the eldest club of Odisha bagged a series of awards viz. Best club bulletin, Best Leo club, Service activities through out the year, Outstanding membership growth, Support in multiple convention, Best club President, Best club Treasurer and DG’s appreciation award to PDG Lion G Vasudevan.

In this function from Lions club of Rourkela, President Bharti Chandan, Secretary Dr Jyoti Swain, Immediate Past President A K Jena, Region Chairperson Sunita Sreenivasan, District Chairperson Bhimasen Pradhan, P Sreenivasan, Deepak Chandan, Bijay Chauhan, Bharat K Dhal, and Dr Milan Pasayat attended.

The 59th Installation ceremony of Lions club of Rourkela held

Lions club of Rourkela, the first and the oldest club of district 322 C2 ie the complete geographical region of Odisha state (the then lion district 304-E) brought lionism into the state in 1960.

 The 59th Installation ceremony of the club was held on the 22nd July 2018 at Hotel Regency Inn, main road, Rourkela. Past District Governor Lion Ameeta Jena, MJF of District 322C4 was the Chief Guest cum Installation Officer. Lion Bharti Chandan was installed as the 59th President of the club and took oath along with her team of office bearers for the year 2018-19.

 It is not out place to mention that lionism started in 1917 in Chicago ( 101 years ago) and for the first time in the Lions’ History, one lady has become International President this year namely Lion Gudrun Yngvadottir of Iceland. The programme started with prayer dance, invocation, reading of Flag salutation, lighting up of ceremonial lamp, offering floral tribute to Melvin Jones, and observed one minute silence prayer for world peace departed souls. Leo Ayush Pradhan of Leo club of Rourkela read out the pledge.

The outgoing President Lion Akshyaya K Jena welcomed the Chief Guest, Guest of honour, club members; invited guests etc to the occasion. Installation committee chairperson Lion Shabnam Malik addressed the audience. Secretarial reports were presented by Lion Bharat K Dhal and Leo Niharika Dalbehera. Lion Bhimasen Pradhan introduced the guests present in the meeting. Next, the Installation Officer inducted the new members to the club and installed the office bearers. While installing, she elaborated the responsibility of each of the office bearers. The outgoing President Lion Jena handed over the gong to the incoming President Lion Bharti Chandan as a mark of authority and escorted her to the dais. Subsequently Lion Chandan presented her first presidential address and elaborated the club goal for 2018-19.

During the ceremony, Guest of Honour Lion Vasudevan Nair MJF, Region Chairman Lion Sunita Sreenivasan, Zone Chairperon Lion Sanat K Pradhan, MJF also addressed, appreciated the club activities and felicitated the new team.

The members of neighbouring lions clubs felicitated the newly installed team. On this occasion Lion R K Singh (Rourkela Vevdyas Greater), Lion SK Ray (Rourkela Chhend), Lion Durgesh Nandini Biswal (Rourkela Smartcity), Lion Mamata Gautam (Rourkela Panposh) felicitated the new team as well as the club.

During the meeting the out going President Lion Akshyaya K Jena presented certificates, mementos and appreciation letters to club members and others viz doctors, medical staff, teachers etc for their support during the lionistic year. At the end, new secretary Lion Dr Jyoti Swain proposed a formal vote of thanks and after the National Anthem, President Lion Chandan closed the meeting. This followed by a fellowship lunch. Past President Lion Rajesh C Malhotra and Ln Dr Puja  Pati  were the master of ceremony.

Lions club of Rourkela observed its 58th Charternite function

 The Charternite ceremony of Lions club of Rourkela was held on the 28th January 2018 evening at hotel Regency inn, Bisra road, Rourkela.  Lion Brij Mohan Agarwal, District Governor Dist 322c2 was the Chief Guest and Past District Governor Lion G Vasudevan Nair was the guest of honour. This is not out of place to mention that Lion club of Rourkela is the first and oldest club of Odisha and was started in September 1960 by Lions club of Ranchi.

          The function was started with invocation and lighting up of the ceremonial lamp by all the guests and with welcome song. Silence prayer was observed for world peace and for the departed souls. Lion President Akshyaya Jena welcomed the audience and guests and address by Charternite Chairperson Lion Rajesh C Malhotra briefed.  Lion Chandra Sekhar Chandan introduced the lion members of the neighbouring clubs. Lion Secretary Bharat K Dhal and Leo Pratik Jain read out the secretarial reports. Guest of honour Lion G Vasudevan Nair and Chief Guest Lion Brijmohan Agarwal addressed the audience. During the function, four new members were inducted to the club which will help the club to enhance the service activities. Mr Shyam Sundar Parida our charter member was present during the function along with Mrs Parida.

          On this occasion Lions club of Rourkela felicitated one teacher, one nurse and one police man for their dedication to the society. They are Mr Prakash Chandra Tripathy, working for Juvenile jail, Ms Pushpanjali Maharana of ESIC hospital, and Mr N Dalai, Asstt Sub Inspector Traffic Police. The scholarship amount for five students of Savoniya Sikhyashrama, Lathikata was also presented. To mark the occasion club’s annual souvenir “Lions Roar”, edited by Lion Bhimasen Pradhan was released by the District Governor. At the end, visiting lion members felicitated the club for the charternite celebration.  At the end treasurer Lion Jagjit Singh proposed a formal vote of thanks. Past district Governor Lion Lala Jagdish Ray of District 322C5 was the Chief Guest cum Installation Officer. Lion Akshaya Kumar Jena was installed as the 58th President of the club and took oath along with his team of Office Bearers for the year 2017-18. It is not out place to mention that lionism started in 1917 in Chicago and this is the first year after centenary celebration. The programme started with invocation, reading of Flag salutation, lighting up of ceremonial lamp, offering floral tribute to Melvin Jones, prayer song and observed one minute silence prayer for world peace departed souls. Leo Niharika of Leo club of Rourkela read out the pledge.

The club President Lion Sunita Sreenivasan welcomed the Chief Guest, Guest, club members; invited guests etc to the occasion. Installation Committee Chairperson Lion Bijay Chauhan addressed the audience. Secretarial reports were presented by Lion Bharti Chandan and Leo Ayuysh Pradhan. Lion Jaspal Singh Chhabra introduced guest of honour PDG Lion G Vasudevan Nair, while PRO Lion Bhimasen Pradhan introduced Chief Guest cum Installation Officer. Next, the Installation Officer inducted the new members to the club and installed the office bearers. While installing, he elaborated the responsibility of each of the office bearers. The outgoing President Lion Sunita Sreenivasan handed over the gong to the incoming President Lion Jena as a mark of authority and escorted him to the dais. Lion Jena also presented his first presidential address.

Club sponsored a new club " Lions Club of Rourkela Smart City " on 6th June 2017

 A new lions club named as Lions club of Rourkela Smart City was inaugurated on 6th June 2017 by District Governor Lion Sanjay Kumar Sahu, District 322C2. The club was sponsored by Lions club of Rourkela, the oldest club of the district as well as of Odisha. A special function was organised on this day at Kanyaka Mandap, Basanti Colony and presided by the sponsoring club president Lion Sunita Sreenivasan. DG Lion Sahu inaugurated this club as the 45th club of the lion district which comprises of entire western area with 10 district of Odisha. District Governor inducted 29 members of this club to lionism and assured that with this new club, service activities will be strengthened more. It is not out of the place to mention that Lionism is completing its 100 years of service to the community on 7th June 2017. During the function, District Governor (Designate) Lion Brij Mohan Agarwal, Past District Governor Lion G Vasudevan Nair, Region Chairperson Lion Durgesh Nandini Biswal, Past Multiple Council Chairman Lion B N Patnaik were present.DG, DGE and PDG were introduced by Lion R S Khadanga, Lion Rashmita Panda and Lion Rajendra Panda respectively Lion Jaspal Singh Chhabra was the Inauguration Ceremony Chairman.  A large number of lion members of various clubs were present in the function. At the end, the new club President Lion Nabin Chakraborty proposed a formal vote of thanks. Leo Ashlesha Sahu was the master of ceremony. 

Club organised Tree plantation  on 7th August 2016

Lions club of Rourkela organised a tree plantation programme on 07.08.2016 in the premises of Hitech hospita & medical college. Total 32 saplings of Mango,Neem, Krushnachuda, Kadamba, Anar and Guava were planted. Club President Sunita and a large number lion members participated in this programme.

The 57th Installation ceremony of Lions club of Rourkela held

 The 57th Installation ceremony of the club was held today (17th July 2016) at Rourkela Club, Sector-20 in the forenoon. Past district Governor Lion Hardeep Singh was the Chief Guest – cum Installation Officer. Lion Sunita Sreenivasan was installed as the 57th President of the club  and the first lady President of the club and took oath along with her team of Office Bearers for the year 2016-17. It is not out place to mention that lionism started in 1917 and this is the centenary year celebration.  The programme started with invocation, reading of Flag salutation, lighting up of ceremonial lamp, praying floral tribute to Melvin Jones, the father of Lionism, prayer song and observed one minute silence prayer for world peace departed souls.

The Club President Deepak Chandan welcomed the Chief Guest, Guest, club members; invited guests etc to the occasion. Installation Committee Chairperson P Karunakaran addressed the audience. Through Secretarial report Lion A K Jena presented the last year’s activities of the club. Lion Latha G Karunakaran introduced our Region Chairperson Ln Durgesh Nandini Bishwal to the audience while Lion Jagjit Singh introduced Chief Guest Lion Hardeep Singh. Lion Bishwal addressed the club and appreciated the service activities of the club and also congratulated the incoming President for her all lady PST team. Next, the Installation Officer Lion Hardeep Singh while installing the club elaborated the responsibility of each member of the Office Bearers. He also urged upon to increase the membership growth of the club . The outgoing President handed over the gong to the incoming President Lion Sunita Sreenivasan as a mark of authority and escorted her to the dais. Lion Sunita presented her presidential address.

The members of neighboring lions clubs felicitated the newly installed team. Amongst them are Lion Vinod Mohunta, Lion Malani, Lion Kuldeep Singh and Lion C S Mohapatra.  Niranjan Bhai of Savoniya Sikshyashrama, our associated project was also present in the function. At the end, Treasurer Bharti Chandan proposed a formal vote of thanks and Lion Sunita  Sreenivasan closed the meeting. This followed by a fellowship lunch. Past President cum PRO of the club Lion Bhimasen Pradhan was the master of ceremony.
