Who Are The Rugeley Lions?
Rugeley Lions Club has been in existence for over 19years, a conscientious contributor to the Local Community ever since.
Like every Lions Club throughout the World, the main activities of the club are centred around the needs of the local community and surrounding villages.
Club members are frequently involved in fundraising activities, be it rattling a bucket, running a raffle or organising an event. In 2008 we invited Rugeley Rotary to join us in re-launching the Santa Sleigh around the area which was very well received.
Over the course of a year, club members are able to raise many thousands of pounds for Charity, and have an enormous amount of FUN doing it. We enjoy social events that build on the friendship we share.
The funds raised are used to support mainly local good causes, for example, contributing to a Senior Citizen’s welfare programme, or a Special Needs School. We could assist by contributing towards the needs of a disabled individual or disadvantaged Family.
Club members also have the opportunity to become practically involved in a wide variety of community activities. Indeed we are always on the look out for new projects to get involved in.
The club has also been active in the provision of, for example, the Message in a Bottle scheme for the chronically ill, a snooker table for Rugeley PHAB club, plants for sheltered housing in Brereton and TV set for Cannock Chase Hospital.
Being a member club of an International Organisation, we also have the opportunity to contribute towards the wellbeing of our fellow man regardless of their physical location.
Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) is a unique organization to which all Lions clubs are affiliated. The Foundation is able to authorise Emergency Aid grants within hours of a request being made, such grants often amount to Millions of Dollars as with the recent Hati & Pakistan disasters.
EVERY £1 DONATED GOES TO CHARITY.
The administration of the club is funded entirely by its members.
