On August 13, 2009 the Ruston Lions Club became the custodian of a new Welch Allyn SureSight (tm) VIsion Screener which will be used in support of the local Lions Cubsight program.  Cubsight is a preschool vision screening program that enables Lions to conduct screenings for children in order to prevent childhood blindness through early detection and treatment for the most common vision disorders that can lead to amblyopia (lazy eye).  Jeff Robinson (left), Louisiana Coodinator for Lions Cubsight is shown presenting the Screener to Jim Lowther (right), Coordinator for the Ruston Program.  District 8L First Vice District Governor, George Edwards was also in attendance at the presentation.  The SureSight Screener is a digital instrument which provides improved accuracy and speed over the old type screener.  The Ruston Club expects to screen over 500 children during the 2009-2010 school year as a part of the Cubsight program.
