Salem Host Lions Club Projects

Salem Stadium Concession Stand

The stadium concessions stand is our primary means of revenue.  Some of the funds generated are used for an annual picnic where we donate Scholarships to Salem High School and Glenvar High School.  We also have many other charities the funds are used for such as the Local Food Bank,  Middle School Band, High School Band, Volunteer First Aid Crews, Volunteer Fire Departments and local veteran support groups.  We also help support many other charities as the need arises.  This is just an example of what we do with the funds earned.

Broom Sales

The Industry of The Blind supplies the Salem Host Lions Club with the brooms that are sold.  Think about it we all have to work to support ourselves same is true for the visually impaired.  The brooms supplied by the Industry of The Blind are assembled by them and packaged by them for many Lions Clubs across the globe.  By supporting the sale of these brooms, you are helping the blind in our local community and globally as a whole.  The Salem Host Lions Club would like to thank you in advance for your support.  The list below depicts where you can obtain an Lions Club broom in Salem.

Pediavision Eye Screening for Local Children

If you have ever wondered what pediavision is, the following will provide clarification.  The spot vision screening device is hand held or can be used with a stand.  This portable device is designed to help identify vision issues on patients from 6 months of age thru adults.  Once screened a licensed optometrist of your choice will view the printed results of all data sheets and determine the next course of action if needed to preserve sight.

Eye Glass Sorting & Reading in Roanoke Virginia At The Old Lions Eye Bank Center

The Old Lions Club Eye Bank is a center rich in Lions history including sight.  In the basement of this building you will find Lions in action participating in the eye glass recycling effort.  The activities that take place are the washing of donated glasses, the reading of the prescription and sorting of the glasses by prescription.  Once sorted by prescription they are prepared for shipment to various places around the globe.  Furthermore, many clubs take part in this process and the Salem Host Lions Club is grateful to be an active part of this very important endeavor.
