OUR CLUB

Lions Club of Sangli City, one of the most active clubs in District 323 D1 (MD 323 - INDIA) is chartered in 1989 under the leadership of Charter President Lion Dr. B.S.Hingmire. Since inception Lions Club of Sangli City has earned credibility not only in Sangli but in the entire District with unique services provided for the betterment of society.

In 1989 we started Vaccine Bank at Sangli. We are providing all types of rare vaccines specially on Dog bite, Snake bite etc. to poor and needy patients. This is an unique and only Vaccine Bank operated by Lions in our District 323D1.

In 1996 we started our Lions Eye Hospital. Initially we worked as a sub centre to provide quick services to the patients handled by our parent Hospital. After 3 years this hospital was converted into a full-fledged EyeHospital with the support of LCIF. Under SF 689 LCIF has provided us about INR 15 lakhs for the equipments and Van. Today we are operating almost 400 patients per month at this hospital. Now we are going to expand the facilities provided & capacity of our LionsEyeHospital. Our club has purchased 40000 Sq. ft. of Land for this project.  We are constructing new building of around 7000 sq. ft. for our Eye Hospital Project.

We have an efficient Administration also. Almost every year we had an important role in District Administration Team. During last 20 years our club has been honoured with the responsibility of Region Chairmanship for the five times, Zone Chairmanship for the 8 times, District Activity Chairamnship for 3 times, Dist. Quest Chairmanship for 4 years, Sight First Chairmanship for 3 times and Membership chairmanship for 3 years. It is our pride that Past District Governor Lion Prof. Subhash Arwade (1992-93) and Lion Diwakar Shetty (2003-04) are the members of our club. With a view to strengthen the Lions movement in this area the merger of Lions Club of Sangli with Lions Club of Sangli City took place in 2005.
