Meetings

San Jose Host East Valley

Established 1920

We meet every 2nd and 4th Tuesday night at the Carrow's on Story Road at 6:00 pm for dinner and socializing followed by our meeting at 7:00 pm.

Welcome to the new online home of the SAN JOSE HOST EAST VALLEY LIONS. This club was established in 1920 and has celebrated its 95th anniversary. As always, we want to "keep up with the times," using new technology to reach out to friends, fellow Lions and the community. We hope you will check back often for updates about our new "old" club.

San Jose Host East Valley Lions

April 25, 2017

Carrow's Restaurant, 7:00 pm

The president, Gerry Stasko, called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

The following persons were in attendance: Barb Peniston, Mary Esteban, Gerry Stasko, Grace Mata, Joyce Valdez, Val and Bob Long, Jim McCoy, Gene and (guest) Wilma Pires, Marilyn Leonard, and Gayle Kludt. Also attending were guests Melinda Blaza and David Martin.

Bob led us in the pledge, Mary in the prayer, Jim in the song and off we went.

Tail Twisters Lions Barb and Grace led us in a game of Lions Trivia. Boy, are we lousy!! However the good news is we cleaned up on the tail twisting money all of which went to our backpack fund!

President Gerry introduced our guest, Melinda Blaza, who explained her vision for the district office of Second Vice District Governor. As is our tradition, the club purchased $100.00 worth of tickets for her fundraiser.

Lion Gayle gave the correspondence report. She discussed a call she received from the 49ers about events at Levi Stadium. Since we have schedduled an event there in the past, we have priority for group activities. There is a $100.00 fee to guarantee any event we would attend. This fee is deductible from any entrance fees and will be returned if we don't schedule an event. It was moved by Joyce and seconded by Jim that we pay the $100.00 fee. Motion passed. She discussed the LCIF Diabetes Grant which the club did not vote on as the proposal was never emailed to us. It requested that our Leos wok with this new group. Our Leos president has been elected student body president and the Leos' presidency is being filled. Gayle also said we need to finalize our polo and vest order as the samples are due back to the vendor. She passed around the new roster for additions and corrections.

Lion Val reported on the Centennial Picnic attended by six of our club members. Lions Grace and Gerry attended the Milpitas "Celebrating Differences" event while the Longs and Gerry attended the Los Amigos anniversary party which featured a fiesta flare-ole!

President Gerry has asked Bob DeUnger to meet with us on May 23rd to discuss our Lions roles within the club. Our Sunday Friends work party will be rescheduled

With all business completed, the meeting as adjourned at 8:45 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Gayle Kludt
SJHEV Secretary.
