Lions Present Flags to First-Graders at Circle Cross Ranch K-8 School

San Tan Lions Club members explain the meaning behind the
American flag to first-graders at Circle Cross Ranch K-8 School.

Members from the San Tan Lions Club visited the first-grade classes at Circle Cross Ranch K-8 School on Wednesday, May 20 and presented each student with an American flag in honor of Veterans, who have proudly served our country.

The Lions distributed small flags, with a stand, to each student so that they may display their patriotic spirit throughout the year.  Each student participated in a learning activity, led by Lions Mary and Gene Schaefer, on why the specific colors of red, white, and blue were chosen for the American flag. Lion Terry Scheer and Lion Myrna Scheer assisted in assembling the flags and with the presentation.

Approximately 75 flags were presented to Ms. Hamilton’s, Ms. Thomas’ and Ms. Boehnlien’s classes at the school. The presentation concluded with students asking questions regarding the care of the flag and what the upcoming Memorial Day holiday is all about.
