Community Service since 1978

The members of the Lions Club are pledged to help those less fortunate than themselves.  The purpose of the Lions Club is to determine community needs and develop means of meeting them, either through its own efforts or in cooporation with other agencies.

Lions Club is an international association which is an outstanding force for community, national, and world services.  Our motto is "We Serve".

Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with more than 1.3 million members in approximately 45,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world.

Objectives

  • To create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.
  • To promote the principles of good government and good citizenship.
  • To take an active interest in the civic, culture, social, and moral welfare of the community.
  • To unite the clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship, and mutual understanding.
  • To provide a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest; provided, however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by club members.
  • To encourage service-minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavors.

Scio, NY Lions

The Scio Lions Club began serving the community in 1978.  The Scio Lions are involved in many community service projects including: educational scholarship awards, educational programming, bike safety inspections, highway clean up efforts, and community celebrations.

In order to help fund our community outreach efforts, the Scio Lions are involved in a number of fundraising activities such as pancake breakfasts, chicken barbeques, and the annual Scio Strawberry Festival.
