History of our Club

The purpose of every Lions Club is to provide services to the community, the blind, vision and/or hearing impaired and to help those in need.  The motto of the Lions Club is “We Serve”.  A Lions Club is not a fraternal, political, religious or social organization.  The membership includes men and women who believe in service to mankind.

The Springettsbury Lions Club was founded in 1954 by a group of like-minded citizens who shared a commitment to work for the betterment of the community of a rapidly growing Springettsbury Twp. Our club is a member of the International Association of Lions Clubs founded in 1917 by Melvin Jones, a Chicago businessman. In founding the Lions movement, Mr. Jones held the belief that a group of persons working together could achieve more than any one individual working alone. Today, Lions Clubs have become the world’s largest service organization; consisting of over one million members located in 157 countries and geographical areas of the free world. The headquarters of Lions International is located in Oak Brook, Illinois.

If you feel a need to help your fellow-man, come join us and become a Springettsbury Lion! Go to our Contact Us page for more information.
