Correspondence

President Lion Carolyn Barrans:.

Secretary report: Lion Russ Magill presented minutes of February 21 meeting for approval.

Lion Joe Barrans moved to accept the minutes as printed. Lion Sharon Stanton seconded the motion and it was approved.

Treasurer report:  Lion Frank DiFrancesco presented the following accounts for approval:          

           Admin Account: Balance at end of February, $4,598.88. Motion to accept by Lion Sharon Stanton,   seconded by Lion Mike Thayer. Motion approved. 


           Foundation Account: Balance at end of February, 41,353.31 Motion to accept by PDG Lion Forrest Cheuvront, seconded by Lion J. L. Scott. Motion approved.          

Program: Guest Speaker, Robert Scanlan, from CapTel, gave information about captioned telephone service available for hearing impaired persons.

Old  Business

Certification of delegates to the District 21B Convention. Lions Carolyn Barrans, Joe Barrans, Forrest Cheuvront, Sally Hanson, Russ Magill, Larry Palmer and Ruth Palmer will attend the Convention. Lion Sharon Stanton moved to approve their certification as Club delegates to the Convention. Lion Dick Zierman seconded the motion and it was approved.

New Business

Lion Carolyn Barrans announced that the Board of Directors had approved the purchase of a Lions award banner to be presented to the Sun Lakes Breakfast Lions Club in recognition of their first anniversary. The purchase was approved by the Club members by acclamation.

Lion Carolyn reported the Club election meeting will be March 21. The slate of officers had been presented by

Nominating Committee Chairman Forrest Kohler at the February 21 meeting. They are:  President, Forrest Cheuvront; First Vice President, Ruth Palmer; Second Vice President, Sandy Iosue; Secretary, Russ Magill; Treasurer, Frank DiFrancesco; Directors, Sharon Stanton and Floyd Mullen;  Lion Tamer, Larry Stoner and Mike Thayer; Tail Twister, Dick Zierman; Membership Chairman, Forrest Kohler.

Lions Shelva Kohler and Mike Thayer will be serving the second year of their two year term.

Committee Reports:

Snedigar Park: Kay Thayer reported activity will begin March23. Staffing is arranged for Ostrich Festival.

Firebird Raceway - Lion Dick Zierman, need four people for next week's activity. The Treasurer has received a check for $800 for services provided by Club members.

Flag Progam - Lion Carolyn Barrans, an organizational meeting will be held March 26 for all interested Club members, to determine program staffing for Summer months.

Food bank - Lion Sharon Stanton, distributed a list of needed food items and urged members to keep bringing non-perishable food items to Club meetings.

Membership - Lion Kay Thayer, no membership news. Samples of new Lion shirts available, estimated cost less than $25.

Flags for First Graders - Lion Judy Stoner, no report

 Phone Book Delivery - Lion Joe Berrans; The dates for delivery of the phone books is to be determined. More help is needed. A sign-up sheet is available

Dinner Committee - Club dinner meeting on March 21 will have a Hawaiian menu. Reservations must be submitted to Lion Ruth Palmer by March 15.

Easter Parade and Egg Hunt - Will be held March 30

Storage Shed Proposal - Lion Dick Zierman recommended renting a larger storage unit for storage of Casino Night equipment and supplies. The available unit would allow easier access to the equipment and facilitate placing adequate inventory record keeping. The larger unit may also allow storage of Club records and miscellaneous items presently stored in two small units. PDG Lion Forrest Cheuvront moved to proceed with the change, seconded by Andy Anderson. The motion was approved.

March Birthdays

Lion Dick Zierman presented, Lions all: Russ Magill, Beverly Zierman, Carson Robertson and Graham Snediker.

King Lion Auction  PDG Lion Forrest Cheuvront auctioned the King Lion badge with Lion Joe Barrans emerging as high bidder with  a bid of $10.

Tail Twister  No Tail Twister activity tonight.

Drawing Ticket sales were $33. Drawing winner Lion Kay Thayer elected to receive the $16 cash award.
