DROUGHT RELIEF FUNDRAISER - Adopt a Town - Jericho

Lions Clubs around Australia are focussed on helping farmers through this extraordinary drought crisis. With 99% of NSW and 60% of Queensland now in drought, Lions Clubs are boosting their support for farmers in need.

Our Club has chosen to adopt the town of Jericho in Queensland where all funds will be assigned.  Jericho is located 500 kilometres west of Rockhampton on the Jordan Creek, a small community with big hearts.  The population is approximately 100 and comes under the Barcaldine Council area.  It is a large cattle producing area.

This community has: one single person Police Station; one Nursing Sister; one Petrol Station; a Post Office; a Hotel and a travelling grocer arrives every Saturday.  People have to travel 50 to 100ks to make purchases of household items and goods – if they have enough petrol.

Our Club will be working closely together with both the Police and Health Professionals in the community to assist where necessary.

100% of ALL donations will be donated wholly and solely to the people of Jericho.

We are asking for your help to assist us in any way possible.  The people of Jericho are crying out for necessities that we take for granted on a daily basis.  Some people living here have not used shampoo or soothing lanolin cream for their chaffed hard-working hands for months and months.

We love our sunburnt country, but our farming communities are fighting the most severe drought known.  Every passing week without needed rains brings another hurdle to jump.

You can help during this tough time by donating to this cause and lift the morale of these struggling farming families who are in dire straits.

PLEASE HELP OUR AUSSIE FARMERS AND FARMING COMMUNITY IN JERICHO
