Meetings

WHAT IS REQUIRED OF ME AS A LION?

Most people think that being a Lion requires a lot of time.  Not so!  At Lions we believe that Family comes first, then the career, then leisure time and then something for Lions.  Some Lions put in more hours than others, but that is a choice. The average Lion would put in between 6 and 12 hours a month.

This could be spent doing many different activities:

  • Helping in the  food vans at events
  • Helping at sausage sizzles
  • Helping the underprivileged
  • Helping at Triathlons, Festivals and Fundraisers
  • Helping with computer skills
  • Making blankets by knitting squares
  • Collecting glasses and stamps

and many more activities some of which can be done from home.

BENEFITS OF BEING A LION

Fellowship:

Joining a Lions Club brings you into contact with a great diversity of enthusiastic, extremely generous and caring people, who work together expressing their individual skills in keeping the very complex business of serving the community in every possible way!

The Club tries at all times to live and work by the  Lions Code of Ethics.  We meet regularly in a        relaxed atmosphere to hear guest speakers discuss issues and address the community needs.

The Lions Club ’s social calendar allows Members to gather with their partners for many fun days also.

Every year in July Members elect positions for our Board of Directors.  This is celebrated by holding a Changeover Dinner, where more formal attire is requested.

Once a year our District Governor Dinner is shared with other surrounding Lions Clubs.  This is a great time to expand your networking.

Annual District, Multi-District and International Conventions are huge social gatherings, attracting hundreds of Lions Worldwide and some of our Lions Club Members attend these functions in many different countries.

Our Club Supports:

A diverse range of projects, with everything from planting trees in a worldwide project aimed at helping our planet as promoted by our International President. Other international projects include restoration of eyesight, eradication of diseases like polio and measles, supplying clean drinking water projects to millions of people Worldwide.

The Club supplies special wheelchairs for disabled kids,  immediate relief funds to victims of flood, fire, cyclones and earthquakes.

The Club also supports various youth programs, assists the elderly and provides funding for a host of charities.

In our local community, we assist with Council, Rotary and RSL Clubs in combined projects, such as Australia Day Festival, Anzac Day, Carols by Candlelight, School Fetes, supporting kids with disabilities and hosting local and International students.

We also financially help Youth Clubs with equipment and funding for their projects.

Fundraising Projects:

A large part of our fundraising is catering using our food vans for public functions.  Leasing out vans to other Organisations and Clubs.

Annually, we assist the Council during the Christmas holidays to ease parking congestion.  The funds raised from these projects provides Blue Care Nursing with a new car lease every year.

The Club sells Lions Christmas Cakes as fundraisers.

Our annual event, Noosa Australia Day Festival is just another fundraising project.

This project has a beneficiary charity every year and is supported by the local Council to make a great day for the community.
