THANET LIONS CLUB

Thanet Lions Club has a track record of 42 years of community service in Thanet. We are a good mix of men and women with an age range of 18 to 80. Enquiry for membership is always welcome because the more members we have the more we can do to help the local community.

We are part of an International Organisation but we do like to spend most of the funds raised locally on the local community.

Thanet Lions Quiz night 14th February

At Thanet Lions we like to combine fundraising with having fun, at our regular quizes. We raised over £300 for local causes at our last quiz, not bad for a cold February night..

Lions 'Harvest' Event

Starting with our “harvest event” we were donated food for our hampers, St Georges School gave us a trolley load of tins organised by the Leo Club at the School. We used £2400 raised to fund the hampers and presents provided at Christmas time. Our help was needed more than ever. Thanet Lions Club, thanks to the generous people of Thanet, were able to pack 228 hampers.. Hampers were distributed to Surestart Milllmead, Six Bells, St Pauls Road and Newlands Children’s Centre, Gap Project at Broadstairs, Age Concern, Thanet Enablement Team, Carers Support, various church contacts and to a Birchington School.

We also gave 120 packets of biscuits to Crisis At Christmas, Christmas presents for Mums and Children at Oasis Refuge. Presents for 65 seniors (enjoying a party lunch organised by Ellington with Hereson School) and to homeless and vulnerable people via Porchlight.

Two individual families in desperate need were also given a large hamper and help with heating and lighting. Second family were provided with furniture and baby equipment.

The aim of Lions is to help people less fortunate than themselves. We hope that Lions achieve this in Thanet this Christmas. Please remember that Lions are not only for Christmas if you need our help during the year please contact us.
