HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS are presented each year to selected VHS seniors who plan to further their education and need financial assistance.

 GLASSES FOR MEXICO - between 5,000 and 10,000 pairs are given out yearly on Mission Trips by Lions of District 25-A (Counties - Jasper, Lake, LaPorte, Newton, Porter, Pulaski & Starke). 
 
 EYE EXAMINATIONS and GLASSES are provided for people in need in the greater Valparaiso area.

 LIONS VISION CARE, INC

      Lions Vision Care, Inc is a 501-C-3 charity started by the Valparaiso Lions Club in 1997 to help people who are visually impaired in NW Indiana, It covers anyone in Lake, LaPorte, Newton, Starke and Jasper counties in NW Indiana. The charity buys low vision devices for people who cannot afford them. This may be anywhere from high powered reading glasses to magnifiers, to electronic video magnifiers. A grant application is required with confirmation of the vision impairment by the patient's eye doctor. If the patient is eligible for help through the Department of Vocation Rehabilitation or insurance, they should apply there first.

         Vision requirements are:

1. Best corrected vision or 20/50 or worse in the better eye, or a disabling visual field loss (loss of side or peripheral vision).
2. Applicants must be residents of the six counties in NW Indiana.
3. Each application is considered on an individual basis and acceptance also depends on the funds that are available to the charity.
