The Victoria Imperial Lions Club has been especially integral in supporting Camosun College students with physical challenges.  In 2006, the club established the Al Hayman Memorial Bursary for Camosun students with visual disabilities.  By 2009, (when the philanthropy award was presented), the endowment had grown to over $45,000.  The club also established a Disability Resource Centre Loan Fund of $3,500 to help disabled students get their printed course materials created in alternate formats, provided over $1,200 for Camosun’s Solutions for Blind Readers program and most recently pledged $6,000 toward special desks for the College’s Love Your Learning Library revitalization project.
