Wadebridge Lions

Fund raising events includied a Beer Festival and Party in the Park at Pencarrow.   Near Xmas we will give a Dinner and Entertainment to 250 Senior Citizens of Wadebridge and area. We hold a number of other fund raising and Social Events.

Bella Rose Appeal

Wadebridge Lions initiated the Bella Rose Appeal in 2014 and together with other Lions clubs in the area have raised over £2000 for this very worthy cause. The fund has since been significantly bolstered by local community groups who have organised a number of projects which have contributed many thousands of pounds. The Lions continue to support this cause and will again be  organising a quiz at the Town Hall on 5th Feb. 2016. Hopefully this will be as well supported by the community as it was in 2015.

Children in Need

Wadebridge Lions support Children in Need and organise a traffic 'Hold Up' on the old bridge. The locals don't seem to mind and give their very generous support. This year (2015) almost £3000 was collected for which the Lions are most grateful to the Wadebridge community.

Senior Citizens Christmas Dinner

This year 216 senior citizens from Wadebridge and surrounding area enjoyed a fantastic afternoon at the 38th annual Christmas Dinner and Concert which was held on 5th December at Wadebridge School. Andy Marshall & Johnny Cowling entertained throughout the afternoonand a freshly cooked turkey dinner and Christmas pudding was served by members of the Lions, their wives, friends and the Lady Mayor.

The event was made possible due to the tireless fundraising of the Lions and this year significant financial help was given by local business through sponsorship and the Lions would like to give thanks to the following :

Sproulls Solicitors, Reg Hambly Insurance, Bond, Oxborough & Phillips, Bridge Bistro, Cornwall Care, North Cornwall VW Centre, The Co-op, Riverside Financial,& The Cornwall Advertiser and to all those who gave their time or contributed in other ways.

A free raffle took place and 29 prizes were donated by local businesses.

The Trolley Dash was won by Mrs Pritchard (Ticket No.472 - £100) Second & third prizes were won by D.Clark (267) & Mrs Davey (181)
