The Willoughby Evening Lions Club was chartered October 2,1982. The sponsoring club was the Willoughby Lions Club. Our Charter President was Lion Jerry Schneider
Today, 28 years later,we still have 4 Charter members on our roster for a total of 23 members and are proud to serve our community,state,country and the world we live in.
Nationaly Ceftified Pre-school Vision Screeners

These four members of our club received their training and certification thru Prevent Blindness Ohio / Prevent Blindness America and they have been traveling throught out our district providing pre-school vision screenings at several Head Start locations and at Macy's in the Chapel Hill Mall in Akron.
One preschool- age child in 20 has vision problems and one school-age child in 4 has vision problems. Children frequently are unaware that they may have vision problems.
80 % of what a child learns is learned visually. If not detected and treated early, vision problems in children can lead to a variety of difficulties.Vision disorders can effect a childs ability to learn, their preformance and their self-esteem.
Vision screening at an early plays a critical role in detecting and preventing serious problems that can be lifelong and irreversible. Amblyopia, or lazy eye, occurs in approximately 5 out of every 100 children. It is estimated that Amblyopia is responsible for more loss of vision in people age 45 and younger than all other eye diseases and trauma combined.
