Look Back at Christmas 2011.................. THE SOUNDS OF CHRISTMAS ... On one of our Christmas Evening rounds with Santa the Lions were accompanyed by a Cardiff University Media Student called Tim Walsh. Tim, from Yatton, as part of his studies planned to carry out a number of on the spot interviews. So armed with a collection tin in one hand, and a microphone in the other, Tim Walsh spent the evening with Father Christmas and his helpers - the interesting results can be found here LEAH CLIMBS KILIMANJARO... heard in the interview carried out by Tim (above) was Leah Senington. She had just been presented a cheque by Santa from the Yeo Valley lions Club. Leah had completed the climb of the 19,000 foot-high Mount Kilimanjaro and raised more than £5,500 for Cancer Research UK in the process. She undertook the eight-day challenge after her brother Luke’s partner Debbie Scull died of cancer in September, aged only 27. The 26-year-old former Churchill Community School pupil said: “I chose to take on Kilimanjaro as a dedication to Debbie’s strength, bravery and courage during her gruelling fight with cancer, a wonderful person who will remain within our hearts. “I would like to thank all who supported me through this challenge with generous donations, words of support and encouragement including the companies that have offered me direct sponsorship.”
