Meetings

In 1950 a group of 19 local citizens, businessmen and leaders of the community felt a civic duty to improve our community and help its citizens.  They decided for apply for membership to the Lions Club International and in October of 1950, were granted charter to form the Lions Club of Youngsville, now called the Youngsville Lions Club.  Lions Club is the world’s largest International Service Organization.  In over 200 countries, Lions are doing community volunteer work, helping to meet the needs of communities on a local and global scale.  Because we are local, we can serve the unique needs of the communities we live in.  And because we are global, we can address challenges that go beyond our borders. The Lions motto is “We Serve”.

Though Lions Club International has many great causes, the Youngsville Lions Club focuses on two areas.  Throughout the year, we hold fundraisers to raise money that we donate to our two main programs, The Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation and the Louisiana Lions Camp.

With the help of the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation, which supports and promotes eye health, we assist many people in our community by providing free or low cost eye exams and eyeglasses to those in need. Over the years, the Youngsville Lions Club has helped many citizens of Youngsville and surrounding areas by providing eye exams and eyeglasses, working toward the mission of “Providing Vision For All”.

The Louisiana Lions Camp is a non-profit residential summer camp owned and operated by the Louisiana Lions league. The League is funded by area Lions Club of Louisiana from District 8.  Louisiana Lions Camp is free for boys and girls in Louisiana with Mental and Physical Challenges, Diabetes and Pulmonary Disorders.  The Youngsville Lions Club has sponsored local special needs children from our area to give them the opportunity to go to this camp each summer, to have an experience many of them would otherwise not have.

The Youngsville Lions Club has supported many local organizations by volunteering their time and talents, and funds when needed, to local schools, churches and Lions Club International.  We have  donated funds to Green T. Lindon Elementary and helped sponsor a rock garden that was built at the school, and we annually donate time and labor to Youngsville Middle School to assist them in raising funds for their school with their annual Barbeque Dinner Fundraiser.

Our main fundraiser each year is the annual “Youngsville Lions Gumbo Chili Cook off”.  A portion of the funds raised from this event are donated to the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation and to the Louisiana Lions Camp.  We have also started a Car Show Fundraiser with funds dedicated to an "Inclusive Playground" that will be coming to Youngsville.  We as a club are continuously helping people in our city, one project at a time.  Dedication and commitment are shown through the eyes of our members.

Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with more than 1.4 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world.
