THIRROUL SEASIDE AND ARTS FESTIVAL 2009

Within the shadows of the beautifully restored Anita's Theatre Thirroul,  the LIONS CLUB OF AUSTINMER/THIRROUL provides an early set up barbecue for the start of the 2009 Seaside and Arts Festival.

The Festival has been conducted continuously for over 20 years and runs from the Friday (Arts exhibition in Anita's Theatre)  to Street stalls on the Saturday and followed by a large Seaside festival at beautiful Thirroul Beach

This Festival is one of the main annual funding raising sources for the Club.

CLUB RECEIVES 2009 "HEALTHY CITIES AWARD"

These Annual Awards have become an important event since 1990 for both Healthy Cities and the community as they provide an opportunity for people and organisations  to be publicly recognised for their contributions to creating a healthier, safer, greener and more caring Illawarra.

This Award was for “Dedicated Assistance to and fundraising during the Thirroul Seaside and Arts Festival”. It was stated “The Annual Seaside and Arts Festival has grown into an iconic local festival, however not everyone realises that each year, much needed funds are raised for local projects supporting northern suburbs schools, sporting clubs and hospitals…… We take this opportunity to recognise the amazing contribution of the members of the Lions Club of Austinmer/Thirroul Lions  over many years and thank them on behalf of their community”.
