With the end of our current fiscal year nearing its end (June 30th.), the Chester Lioness Lions Club has a busy slate of activities lined up. Please check the Calendar tab on this website to get information on the activities scheduled for the next few months.
We would like to highlight a few of the upcoming events.
UPCOMING HIGHLIGHTS:
Chester Lioness Lions Club scholarships towards college costs……
The Chester Lioness Lions Club annually offers scholarships to graduating High School students residing in Chester, Mendham or Washington Township in Morris County. Each scholarship offers $1,000 towards college costs. Criteria for selection of candidates for these scholarships include academic record, community service and outstanding accomplishments in activities that demonstrate leadership. Financial need is also a key consideration.
We have received applications and are in process of evaluating them. Finalists will be selected by the end of the month.

On Friday May 5th., the club will hold its Spring fundraiser, “A Gala Evening at the Show” at the Black River Playhouse in Chester. The Chester Lioness Lions Club participated in the Chester Day event held on April 22nd. We had a tent with information on the club, handouts and sweet treats for Chester residents interested in learning more about us and our work. It was a great success with a lot of inquiries about the organization.
Members went to Jersey Battered Women’s Service (JBWS) on April 25th. to help them sort clothes, shoes and books and to package toiletries for the residents in preparation for Distribution Day. This is a day when residents at JBWS can select clothing and other household items they need from a wide selection of donated articles.

One of our main goals this year is to increase membership so that there are more “hands” doing this valuable work to help our neighbors. The club is open to all adults who are interested in providing hands-on service to local communities in need. Join us for one of our service activities and get to know our members and our work. We look forward to hearing from you.
