About us

Lions are an international network of 1.35 million men and women in 205 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world.  The First Capitol Lions Club chartered in 2001 with a great group of people to help with those needs.  Our club and membership has grown to over 100 members in the past 13 years.

Helen Keller once said:

"There is not a better way to thank God for your sight than by giving a helping hand to someone in the dark”  &  “Alone we do so little, but together we can do so much”.

Those famous words have inspired our club to reach out to our local communities and help wherever we are needed.  Here is just a short list of what this club donates and contributes their time to on an annual basis.

  • MSB - Missouri School for the Blind
  • MLERF - Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation
  • DASA (Disabled Athletes Sports Association)
  • Leader Dogs for the Blind
  • LCIF - Lions World Service for the Blind
  • Mid-South Lions Sight and Hearing Service
  • State Mobile Hearing Van
  • Lions All Star Football Game - Youth Project
  • Missouri Lions Band - Youth Project
  • American Legion Post 312 - Christmas Dinner for the needy
  • Oasis Food Pantry
  • Diabetes Camps (Republic of Georgia)
