The Grand Valley Lions Club was chartered in June 1951 under the sponsorship of the Orangeville Lions Club.

Our first president of the Club was the late A. E. McIntyre.

Lion Dick Spruyt has served as the Governor of District A9.

Lions Dick Spruyt and Ossie Foreman have served as Deputy-District Governor of District A9

Lions Bruce Johnston, Ron Feikema, Larry Campbell, Ossie Foreman, Dick Spruyt and Rick Nussey have served as Zone Chairmen of Zone 39 East.

Lions Ross Brown, Dick Spruyt, Ossie Foreman and past Lion John Wolfe are Melvin Jones recipients and are Life Members.

The Grand Valley Lions Club has had many fund raisers and have supported a great many groups and causes over the last 57years.

Some of the causes and groups that we have supported are: Lions Foundation of Canada, Guide Dogs, Christmas Baskets, Sports Clubs, 85 Tornado Squadron Air Cadets, Youth Exchange, Lions Parks, Founded the Grand Valley Fire Department, Cubs, Guides, 4-H and highway cleanup.

A Citizens Night is held every April inviting everyone in the community to attend.

We sponsor an annual effective speaking contest and a Peace Poster Contest.

The Club has held many dances over the years, most notably, The Guy Lombardo Dance in 1967, which drew an attendance of more than 4000 people. We run Turkey Shoots in the Fall, the Lions, along with Big Brothers & Big Sisters, sponsors and helps organize the Duck Race in May. The Club participates in the annual Grand Valley Fall Fair parade and In the Annual Santa Claus Parade. .

In June 2002 the Grand Valley Lions Club held its 50th Anniversary Celebration at the Grand Valley and District Community Centre.

In June 2011 the Grand Valley Lions Club held its 60th Anniversary Celebration at the Grand Valley and District Community Centre.
