Lions Club of Karimganj, sponsored by Lions club of Silchar Central, inaugurated on 31st May 1997 and chartered on 19th June 1997, with 30 members. With Lion Jagadish Chandra Banik as charter President, Lion Swapan Kumar Banik as Secretary and Lion Kaushik Ranjan Dey as Treasurer, the club started it’s journey and now present strength of 86 vibrant members doing services to humanity in distress. 

Our club number is 059810 and belongs to Lions MD 322, District 322G, Region V, Zone IX.

Lions club of Karimganj is maintaining it’s 100% DFF members' club status since long and at present have three PMJF and 17 MJF members and pledged commitment to become Model Club. Lions club of Karimganj has its own clubhouse cum service centre and installed a half-bust statue of Lion Melvin Jones, founder of Lionism as its Legacy Project.

Till now Lions club of Karimganj sponsored Six Lions Clubs:

1. Badarpur Greater, 

2. Aizawl, 

3. Hailakandi centurion- jointly with Silchar Central 

4. Silchar centurion- jointly with Silchar Central 

5. Karimganj Frontline

6. Karimganj Femina

and opened two Leo clubs- Karimganj Youth, and Kaliganj.

  • Lions Art school is the outstanding project of the club where the abilities of many talented and needy kids are nurtured by imparting free art training and general well being.

Other Permanent projects are—

  • 24x7 Ambulance service,
  • Old cloth bank – to provide free cloth to underprivileged people,
  • Maintenance and beautification of Ambedkar park, Netaji Park, Traffic island and police picket.
  • Drinking water and toilet facilities at school

Besides these permanent Projects, the regular activities of the club are-

  • Vision care- Till now 128 eye camps organised with 40301 OPD and 5475 cataract surgeries.
  • Diabetes care, Medical health checkup and cancer awareness with free medicines distribution.
  • Cloth distribution during festive season, blankets and winter wear distribution during winter.
  • Hunger Relief programmes at regular interval to provide food to people in distress.
  • Shikshasahayog- scholarship to meritorious students.
  • Environment- Tree plantation
  • Peace poster contest
  • Financial assistance to needy people for medical treatment and other distress.
  • Observation of Red-letter days

Apart from these, the club undertakes various projects based on the need of the society
