Welcome to the Penetanguishene Lions Club
Founded in 1939, the Penetanguishene Lions Club is one of the oldest service clubs in Central Ontario and part of a proud legacy that stretches back to the earliest days of organized community service in our region. For more than 85 years, local Lions have dedicated themselves to strengthening Penetanguishene—working side-by-side with neighbours, partners, and generations of volunteers who believed in giving back to the place they called home.
Our story began at a time when Penetanguishene was a small but growing community shaped by hard work, strong families, and a spirit of cooperation. Inspired by the global mission of Lions Clubs International, our founding members came together with a simple but powerful purpose: to serve wherever help was needed. Since then, the Penetanguishene Lions have been a constant presence—supporting children, families, seniors, and community projects that make life better for everyone.
Over the decades, our club has contributed to many local milestones, including:
-
Programs supporting vision, hearing, and health services
-
Improvements to parks, recreation, and community spaces
-
Youth leadership and scholarship initiatives
-
Support for the CNIB, Lions Camp Dorset, and other Ontario Lions foundations
-
Emergency assistance and fundraising for families in need
-
Partnerships with neighbouring Lions Clubs across District A-12
We are proud to be part of a global network of 1.4 million Lions in more than 200 countries and territories. Yet our heart has always remained right here in Penetanguishene. Every project we take on is guided by the Lions’ motto—We Serve—and by the belief that communities grow stronger when people come together in kindness, friendship, and shared purpose.
Today, our members continue to build on this legacy with a blend of tradition and innovation. Whether hosting local events, supporting vision care programs, or responding to emerging needs in North Simcoe, we remain committed to the same values that guided our founders in 1939.
If you are looking for a way to give back, meet new people, or make a positive impact, we invite you to learn more about our club. New members are always welcome, and there is a place for everyone who believes in serving their community.
