The Verona Lions Club is a service organization dedicated to the health and well being of Verona residents. We provide services such as hearing and sight testing. We also collect eye glasses to be refurbished and redistributed to those who can’t afford new glasses.

Our club maintains a Hospital Loan Closet. In the event that a Verona resident requires a wheel chair, hospital bed, cane, crutches or almost any other health aid, the Verona Lions will deliver it to the resident’s home and set it up.

The Verona lions club has donated a car to the town of Verona, which is used to transport the sick and elderly to doctor’s appointments both in and out of town, and the members of the Verona Lions Club volunteer to drive the car and provide the necessary transportation for an entire month every year.

The Verona Lions Club raises money through various events and activities, with all of the money redistributed to various charities, organizations and individuals within the town of Verona who require assistance.

We currently have more than 40 members all of whom are highly motivated and intelligent individuals who enjoy working together for the betterment of Verona and its residents. We also enjoy socializing; in addition to our twice monthly dinner meetings our members enjoy several social events every year including Charter Night, A night at the races, and ball games.

The Verona Lions are ready for successful Year to Volunteer!

The Verona Lions Club recently inducted its new President Myron Spektor to lead the club thru another successful year of volunteer giving for Verona.

This past year with Steve Janett as President, the club added several new members, raised contributions to the Verona Health Department, expanded the use of its Hospital Loan Closet, collected several hundred used eyeglasses, contributed a new vehicle for medical transportation, and offered college scholarships to Verona students continuing their education.  All of these efforts were made possible by contributions from Verona residents.   Joe Benyo, Verona Lions Member stated “Steve did an outstanding job at raising volunteer club awareness in Verona and throughout surrounding towns that have called upon the club for services especially for use of our Hospital Loan closet.”

The Hospital Loan closet is a free service available to Verona residents when they need a wheelchair, walker, shower chair, and or hospital bed for an illness.  Members of the club deliver equipment to the residents and repurpose used equipment from donations they receive saving people the time and frustration when equipment is needed.

With the changing of the Presidents the club is looking forward to a very exciting year of volunteer service.  Myron Spektor’s goal is to raise awareness of the services the club offers and to encourage others in the town to lend a hand when needed.  This is what the Lions are all about and have been for Verona since 1951.

The Verona Lions club meets every first and third Tuesday of the month at the Avenue Bistro located at 558 Bloomfield Avenue in Verona at 7:00 pm.  For more information contact Andrew Burger at 973-980-2225 or visit the Verona Lions site at
