Meetings

The Lions Club of West Marin supports many community programs and focuses on providing valuable opportunities for our youth to develop essential life skills,
explore their interests & build self-esteem.

Youth Programs:

  • We support the West Marin School’s yearly 8th grade field trip, and the Tomales High School Rising Senior Class Fundraiser, Gallary Route One: Artists in the Schools Program, and many other annual celebrations and events.

  • West Marin Field Committee Project (WMFC Project): The WMFC Project provides vital support to maintaining the field and providing equipment for a variety of youth sports programs, including CYO Basketball, Soccer, Little League, Volleyball & more!

WMFC Project ensures that all children in our community have the opportunity to participate in organized sports, learn valuable teamwork skills, and develop a lifelong love of physical activity. The WMFC Project also supports community access to the West Marin School Community Gym by offering liability insurance and working in partnership with SUSD.

  • The Lions’ Club generously funds West Marin Community Services Youth Programs. WMCS hosts a Youth Center 5-days a week at West Marin School serving 6-8 grade students. This year Tomales High School and 7-8th grade Tomales Elementary students will have programming 2-days a week at the Tomales Town Hall (TTH).

  • California Lions Club High School Student Speakers Contest: We sponsor the Student Speakers Club area Zone contest in cooperation with Tomales High School and The Rural Debate Initiative. We celebrate our youth’s ideas and help them to develop public speaking skills.

Other Family & Community Projects:

  • Western Weekend:  We host this beloved annual tradition which and is co-created with the help of many dedicated community partners. This is a family-friendly event including a Community Barn Dance and a Parade in downtown Point Reyes Station the first full weekend in June every year. Proceeds from Western Weekend help support many local non-profits who provide essential community programs. For many it is their primary fundraiser.

  • West Marin Health Fairs: Four afternoons in October we offer Free Eye Exams to students and community members at the annual West Marin Health Fairs hosted by County of Marin Health and Human Services. We also work to provide stipends for new glasses for those who may not otherwise have access to this essential service.

  • Blue Marble Acres - Sembrando Vida: We support West Marin Food Systems and West Marin Climate Action with this Community Farming project. Residents of West Marin can grow food together and share their culturally specific knowledge and experiences.

  • Inverness Fair  -  Lions sponsor a popular Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser co-hosted by our youth and young adults. These funds help support our youth programs.

  • Lending Library & Eco-sorting station fabrication at Tomales High School: Youth create valuable community resources and learning tools that also supports the Cleaner California Coast.
