SCOTT A. STORMS

PAST INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR

 

     Scott A. Storms, of Windsor Locks, Connecticut, USA, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 84th International Convention, held in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, July 2-July 6, 2001.

     A member of the Windsor Locks Lions Club since 1973, Past Director Storms  has held many offices within the association, including club president, cabinet secretary/treasurer, leadership development chair, district governor, and multiple district council chair. In addition, he has served as President of the Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation, as President of the Connecticut Lion Low Vision Centers, as a Director of the FIDELCO Guide Dog Foundation, as the Campaign SightFirst Sector Coordinator for Connecticut and Rhode Island, as a faculty member for the LCI Emerging Leadership Institute, and as a presenter at five USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forums. PID Storms twice has served as the Seminars Chairman for the USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum Planning Committee, while concurrently serving as a member of the International Committee for Campaign SightFirst II.  PID Storms has served as an Area Leader for the Global Membership Team, has served as the LCI Representative to the United Nations NGO Committee on Narcotics and Substance Abuse, and was a member of the Lions 9-11 World Trade Center Steering Committee. PID Scott served his sixth term as a District Governor-Elect Group Leader in Toronto, Canada in 2014..

     In recognition of his service to the association, Past Director Storms has received numerous awards including the 100% Club President Award, the 100% District Governor’s Award, the District Governor’s Excellence Award, the Guiding Lion Award, the Rebuilding Lion Award, two Extension Awards, six International President’s Certificates of Appreciation, the International President’s Leadership Award, six International President’s Awards and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor the association bestows upon its members. He is also a Life Member of the Association, a Senior Master Key Member, a FIDELCO Loyal Shepherd Recipient, a Connecticut Knight of the Blind, an Indiana W.P. Woods Fellow, a New York Lions Robert J. Uplinger Award and Marie Grasso Cornerstone Recipient, a Connecticut Low Vision Ambassador of Sight, and a LCIF Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.

     In addition to his Lions activities, Past Director Storms is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He is a member of the Connecticut and Massachusetts Bar Associations, a general partner of the family law firm, and an Eagle Scout and Merit Badge Counselor for the Boy Scouts of America. He is a former member of the Government Ethics Advisory Board for State of Connecticut,  a volunteer family court mediator, and has served as a member of various boards and commissions for the Town of Windsor Locks, including Chairman of the Board of Education. Lion Scott is currently serving as President of the Windsor Locks Chapter of Dollars for Scholars as well as serving as the Town Attorney.

     Past Director Storms is a general partner in the law offices of Storms & Storms. He and his wife, Dale, also a Lion, attorney and Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, have two sons, both of whom are Melvin Jones Fellows. (8-13)
